Easter 3

Easter Service at St Mary’s Church

There will be an Easter Family Service @ 9.15 on Sunday 31st March, followed by an Easter Egg Hunt.

All are welcome, including visitors and dogs (not so much on the Easter Egg trail, in case they get there first!).

Oh, and don’t forget, that’s the day that the clocks change, so don’t be late!

Save the Date for our Chilton Christmas Social

We’re planning a Christmas social event in Chilton on Friday, December 8th.

We’ll notify you of the location and time soon.

Meanwhile, please mark this date on your calendar.

PS Don’t forget our family Harvest Festival on October 8th

Harvest 2023

Family Harvest Festival

We’re excited to invite you to our Family Harvest Festival at St Mary the Virgin Church on Sunday, October 8th.

The day will start with a quick service at 11:30 a.m., followed by a delicious picnic lunch of soup and ploughman’s fare. We’d be thrilled if you could contribute a small donation for this to help us raise funds for our beautiful church.

After lunch, we’ll have our famous Chilton Auction, where you can bid on various items like fresh fruit and veggies, homemade cakes and buns, jams and pickles, and beautiful flowers and plants. All the money raised from the auction will go towards the upkeep of our church, so bring your purses and wallets and let’s make a difference together!

If you have any items to donate for the auction, please bring them to Wall End on Saturday or straight to the service on Sunday.

Everyone is welcome to join us, including your dog!

So, mark your calendars and bring your family and friends along for a fun-filled day at St Mary the Virgin Church on Sunday, October 8th. Can’t wait to see you there!

Photos of the Chilton Social at Addingrove Farm

Last Friday we had our Chilton Social which included a trip to Addingrove Farm where the Johnson family were kind enough to show us around the new robotic milking system they have installed.

We have posted photos on the Chearsley Parish Council website and these can be seen here many of which were taken by Szandi Kropok

Many thanks to all who helped organise the event: Michael, Chelsea, Tim and Nick for the splendid BBQ as well as all the helpers on the bar; Mark and the Johnson family for the fantastic explanation and of course those fearless tractor drivers who got us to and from our destination.

Don’t forget, Addingrove Farm will be producing and selling its own milk products direct from the farm in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye on progress by following their posts on Facebook

We look forward to seeing you next month.

Cows doing it for themselves

Tonight’s the night for the Chilton Social

We’ve organised a visit to Addingrove Farm for this month’s Chilton Social to see the Johnson family’s fascinating new robot dairy in action. We plan to take two groups of people down to the farm where they will be able to see the cows milk themselves.

Tractors and trailers will take you to the farm and back to Chilton House, where you can tuck into a BBQ, have a drink and catch up with friends and neighbours.

Programme:

  • 17:00 First tractor departure from Chilton House
  • 18:00 Second tractor departure from Chilton House
  • 18:00 BBQ (local food supplied by Boarstall meats) and cash bar at Chilton House

Suggested donation of £2 per adult for the dairy trip with all the proceeds going to the Chilton Church fund.

As for parking for those who do not live within walking distance, please park round the village as cars in the Business Centre drive will get in the way of the tractor and trailer. Those of you who might be bringing small children, please remember that although the cart wash is not deep, a child could drown and therefore, please watch them very very closely.

Thank you for your support, with best wishes from Bertie on behalf of the PCC and the Church Council.

Chilton Pop-Up Pub and Coronation BBQ

Well we were fortunate, the weather cleared up enough last Friday for us to hold our first Pop-Up pub of the year together with a BBQ to celebrate the Coronation of the King & Queen.

There were over a hundred people attended the event and all had a great time.

As well as enjoying an excellent BBQ cooked by Nick, Michael & Chelsea, Gemma led us in singing the Nation Anthem to our new King.

Thanks also to Liam for bedecking the churchyard with bunting for the occasion and to all of the other volunteers who gave up their time to make the event a great success.

Thanks also to Dave Dooley for providing some excellent photos which will appear on our website soon.
