Chilton Parish Biodiversity Report 2020

We’re delighted to present the bird and biodiversity report for Chilton Parish by Tony William Powell who spent from March 2019 to January 2020 conducting site visits to land sections around the Parish. The report is a fascinating read with great cause for optimism but also a reminder that we can do much more to encourage birdlife and other wildlife in our own gardens.

We would like to thank Duncan Parker and all those who donated to the fund which enabled us to commission this report. It will be a valuable source of information for the future.

Please come to tomorrow’s Harvest Festival at St Mary’s Church

A Reminder

Please join us in St. Mary’s Church to celebrate Harvest and to be thankful for all the opportunities we have had to enjoy our glorious countryside while living through Covid-19.

Please bring your family and animals and encourage neighbours and friends to attend.

In line with Covid policies, masks must be worn and sadly NO singing.

11am Sunday 11th October at St Mary’s Church & Churchyard

Please join us in the Churchyard (seats will be available in the church) to celebrate Harvest and to be thankful for all the opportunities we have had to enjoy our glorious countryside while living through Covid-19. Please bring as many of the animals, children, neighbours and family who have spent time with you over the past six months.

We will congregate in our “Rule of 6” bubbles and will try to make you aware of any changes via the Village Notice Board and Parish Council website beforehand.

There will be a collection for church funds and baskets for donations to go to our local food bank. Please consider giving generously to both if you can. Any donation, however small, will be gratefully received.

A huge thank you to all clear-up volunteers

litter picking

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who turned out yesterday to litter pick, prune, chop, chainsaw (!) strim, sweep, pull out weeds, and dispose of the rubbish. We managed to clear up around the village, along the roads to Chearsley, Brill and Easington and in the churchyard. It was a phenomenal effort with fantastic results and very much appreciated. Thank you!

Sunday the 11th of October at 11am – Come to Celebrate and be Thankful

A message from Bertie on behalf of St Mary’s Church:

I think all of us living in Chilton  going through Covid have been more than aware that living in a supportive village community and being surrounded by our beautiful open spaces with so many footpaths and bridleways has made this very challenging period a whole lot easier. So, we thought that it would be nice to celebrate our countryside and to say a quiet thank you for help and kindness on Sunday the 11th of October which in past years would have been our traditional Harvest service.

As with everything else the rules on what we can and can’t do in church change constantly, so who knows where we will be in October? BUT if things remain the same we hope to hold a service in our Church AND Church yard at 11 on the 11th. Please bring all your dogs, children, neighbours and family. Refreshments/picnics if allowed and of course Bonios!

More detail in next month’s Bernwode News and on ALL village notice boards.
