Chilton Community Speedwatch
/in News /by Bobs DamerellChilton Community Speed Watch has had a dozen residents volunteer to be part of this initiative. Thank you all.
BUT… we need more people to spare a bit of time and get involved.
The aim of CSW is to calm the traffic through our lovely village through measures such as regular speed monitoring and installing improved road signage.
We can only make improvements to Chilton with people’s involvement so if you ‘d like to work with fellow villagers on this issue please contact:
Village Noticeboard & Benches
/in News /by Bobs DamerellMany thanks 🙏👏to John Fowler for organising the refurbishment of all the oak benches in the village as well as a complete rebuild of the notice board. Chilton resident Pete Fountain was lead chippy on the job assisted by John and the two of them have worked to restore all of the benches and the notice board to their former glory. Well done to both!
John has also been busy in his workshop producing the bulb planters that have appeared next to the benches and on the verges around the village. Hopefully they should be full of daffs come March.
John has plenty of daffodil bulbs left over so if anyone wants any to plant outside their house to brighten the village in Spring please drop me a line at

Chilton Community Speed Watch Group
/in News /by Bobs DamerellIn order to combat the speeding problem in Chilton, the Parish Council are setting up a Community Speed Watch (CSW) group to conduct a campaign of observing and recording vehicle speeds through the village. Under the CSW scheme drivers of vehicles exceeding the 30 mph zone speed threshold will be contacted by Thames Valley Police.
The objectives of Chilton CSW are twofold:
- To educate drivers and increase awareness of their speeding
- To improve safety and quality of life in the village
The Chilton CSW group can only be successful in making the village a more pleasant and safer place to live if we have VOLUNTEERS prepared to commit a very modest amount of time each month.
More volunteers = less time each person has to dedicate
If you are concerned about the speed of traffic through Chilton, please contact Nick Wasey at to find out how to get involved in this initiative.
